I am trying to pick the final technical electives for my masters program and I am debating if a masonry class is worth the time. My other choice is taking a second course in structural dynamics to learn more about complex structures. Masonry seems like a practical skill but I am not sure if it is more useful than the advanced theory I would get from the dynamics class. I want to know if having a solid background in brick and stone work helps more in the real world than focusing on heavy math and vibrations. It is a tough choice because I only have one quarter left to finish my degree. But I want to make sure I pick the subject that will actually benefit my career as a structural engineer later on.
