Finishing With Concrete floor, need advice

Finally getting around to finishing the floor in my pole barn and looking into options for a concrete floor. I want something durable that can handle vehicles, tools, and the occasional project mess. Anyone here pour a concrete floor in their pole barn or aanywhwere similar at all? would love to hear how anyone went about theirs ,Also open to any tips on timing, curing, or things you wish you had done differently, W

Well you need to start with prepping the soil by leveling it, and don't forget to add gravel base for drainage. For reinforcement you should use wire mash or rebar. It's very important to put the concrete into sections and level it with a screed then finish it with bull float. You will need seven days for the slab to be cured, just keep it moist. It's ideal to pour it in cool weather so that would be a plus. Don't forget to use control joints to prevent cracking. If you think that you won't be able to do it yourself, just get some help.

Concrete is a solid choice for your pole barn floor! you can always DIY smaller areas, but for bigger ones, a pro might be best to get it smooth.

Poured a concrete floor on mine, went with 5 inches thick, rebar reinforcement, and a vapor barrier underneath, and its held up quite great to cars, tools, and all kinds of messes apparently. Pour in cooler weather if you can, and keep it damp for a week to cure right. If I could do it again, Id add a floor drain and maybe some radiant heat, total upgrades I didn't know I needed!

I did this 5 inches thick with rebar and it's been tough enough for everything I throw at it. Biggest advice? Keep it damp. I think @oldforge said the same thing.

I made my concrete slab 4 inches thick and put in fiber mesh and rebar. Waited a whole 28 days for it to get strong before really using it. I should have sealed it sooner, though.
