Gritty reality of Masonry

I have been working with brick and stone for a while now and I can tell you that it is a trade you will both love and hate at the same time. The physical toll is the hardest part because your back and knees take a beating from lifting heavy blocks and bending over all day. And the dust is everywhere so you have to be really strict about wearing a mask to protect your lungs.
But there is a huge sense of pride in building something that is going to stand for a hundred years or more long after you are gone. It is almost like a workout and a creative outlet combined into one job. You get to see a pile of raw materials turn into a beautiful wall or a fireplace by the end of the week.

The pay can be great once you move past the labor stage but you definitely earn every penny through sweat and hard work.

Doing a lot of back exercises because you'll have to bend over all the time. lol

But I take pride on work I've done and when I see them still standing after all these years.
