One thing I noticed is that a lot of older buildings are being restored instead of torn down, so repainting and masonry repair are in demand these days. You just have to find a city that is heavy on this. What I like about it it keeps historic character alive and can be a solid niche for skilled masons. Such good sight for us but matching old mortar and stone is an art and mistakes really show. And so getting hired could be a challenge for entry-level if the restoration requires more advanced skills.

With the industry leaning more into sustainability these skillss should stay in high demand. Even if the housing market itself goes through some changes.
