I need to fix the disintegrating front wall on my house but hiring a mason is just not in the budget right now so I have to try to DIY what I can.
The biggest issues are the efflorescence everywhere, which I think is caused by the flower bed irrigation right next to the wall. And the mortar is crumbling away in several places. The actual stone-like material, which looks like some kind of faux stone sheet product, is also eroding in spots. I was thinking about patching the mortar, cleaning off the efflorescence, and maybe using a sealer, but I heard sealing can sometimes be a bad idea on masonry. Does anyone have experience fixing this type of faux stone wall and dealing with that much efflorescence without professional help? Any reco for the best product for cleaning off that white stuff?
