how to hands split stone?

in dire need to handsplit some stones from kasota, some I need to break at a 90degree angle then reinstall some of it. A total newbie to this and learning from mere experience is not playable card for me right now and so im seeking some advices and tricks to do it. the stone is about 6in - 7in deep and from 2in-7in tall. as much as possible i wanna do it squarely but leave it rough looking. help pls

Kasota's dense but splits well with the right tools. now what youre gonna do is to score all sides with a stone chisel, then hammer it to split. For the square but rough edges, don't overwork it, just stay consistent, but for corners, work from the edge out

just to add to what @Stonecoldadrian has said, you have to go slow at first to avoid cracks. If the stone has natural weak spots, work with them to make it easier. It's kinda a slow process, but it'll come together.

Agree with both of them but do use feather wedges too. And you work in stages, don't work faster as you're just gonna be prone to errors. And make sure you're safe ok! Don't split when anyone's around except you.
