I am looking at a four year trade school program to learn historic stonemasonry techniques. My main interest is in decorative and sculptural work rather than basic construction. I have an art background but I have never actually carved stone before. I want to know if this path can provide a steady and comfortable living today. It seems like many experts are retiring and there might be a high demand for new talent. But I am not sure if the work is mostly for churches or if there are other clients out there.
