cleaning bricks

the house i got is made of bricks and it's been abandoned for quite some time, meaning I'll need to clean the interior walls. My question is how to approach this? I'd like to avoid using water, at least too much. What are my other options?

i think you cant avoid using water when cleaning but using a vacuum, maybe you can take out some dust first then mix somewarm water with dish soap. use a gentle scrub with a sponge or brush, rinse with water and let them air dry. hope this helps!

First step is to dry bush everything you can dry brush! Just get something with hard bristles and brush it hard! Don't add moisture in any way yes avoid water at all costs. Then agree with @curiouscat_8765 about vacuum. Then lastly just use a specialty sponge and dampen it, for your finishing touches. If it's still not doing what you want to happen, chemical-free dry cleaner agents. That's it. It's gonna be squeaky clean after.

@TrustNo1 summed up everything in my head. Just use a stiff dry brush or broom for the loose dirt then use HEPA vacuum. Then also for the soot you can use chemical cleaning bricks if not sponge.

Thanks for this! I am thinking of cleaning the ones in dad's house but never got around to it. will keep these tips in mind!
