Determine job cost for masonry

My stepdad has this masonry or construction company. He wants to hand me the company around 10-15 years later.
I’ve been working in his company for a week now. He gave me a task to look for job costs.

I really don’t have experience in this field. Does anyone know if it’s paid per hour or daily?
Any insights are welcome!

Hmm, the payment frequency still depends on your employer. I think labor is hourly in general? Plus the equipment and materials are also accounted for but they're job based or calculated as daily rentals. I'm pretty sure your company has to have work hours logged. That's your basis.

Usually depends on the type of work and the crew, some go hourly, others by the day or even per job. If it's small residential stuff, day rates are common but bigger projects might break it down hourly for tracking. Best to ask how your stepdad's been handling it so far or.....you dont want to ask him due to personal reasons?
