I am very interested in joining the masonry trade. I have talked to a few people about it but they keep telling me to stay away. They say the work is too hard on the body and the pay is not good enough for the effort. But I still find the craft and the history of the industry very appealing. I am specifically looking for information to see what the actual career path looks like. I want to know about the current pay scales and what kind of growth I can expect over the next few years. It would also be great to know if it is difficult to find an apprenticeship when you have no prior experience in construction. I want to hear from people who are actually doing the job so I can get the facts about the daily grind and the financial benefits and if location matters or should I move to a bigger city?
