Want to make brick mailbox

My dad's 60th birthday is coming up and I want to make him a brick mailbox. He still gets letters from his brothers and sister across the world (they all old now) and it's his simple joy. I just want to ask if you guys have successfully finished one: how did you go about it? Anyone who can provide a step by step might gift you Amazon voucher if I end up using the plan.

planning do to something similar for myself, so here's what I was thinking: 12 inch wide 20 inch deep hole fill it with concrete and rebar. Lay the mortar and build it in height to the desired height of the box, insert it, build around it and cap the top with a flat stone. I wouldn't go with an angled roof because I'm not sure if I'll get it right

from what I've gathered about mailbox builds, the key is making sure you have a good foundation, especially if it's a heavy structure, first dig a hole for the base, ensuring it's deep enough to avoid shifting, then lay a concrete slab as a foundation, which will support the weight. Once that's done, you can start with the brickwork, using mortar between the bricks and making sure everything is level at the same time leaving space for the mailbox insert and any decorative touches your dad will enjoy, be careful with the masonry and take care to avoid any gaps that could weaken it. g'luck

Dig a solid footing of about 12"x12" and 18" deep. Add rebar and also concrete. You can follow the tips from @Grand.Canyon.D! For me do use mortar after curing and adding the bricks. Mortar shall be between the layer of bricks, then just insert the mailbox midway. Cap the top with stone then let it cure!
