I am putting together a bid for a fireplace project where I will apply a full bed masonry veneer to the wall. This veneer will stick to stud framing that is wrapped in Hardiebacker board. I am just trying to figure out if the general contractor is usually the one who installs the cement board. If they install it, then my job would just be taping the seams, applying the thinset, and putting on the stone veneer, right? But if I am expected to install the Hardiebacker, I need to include that work and the material cost in my bid. I am trying to make sure my bid is accurate and I do not leave out any steps so I'm hoping anyone with experience on these types of projects tell me if installing the Hardiebacker falls under the GC's scope or the mason's scope. Thanks for your help with this.
