brick hammer problem

i got a new hammer drill to put up a ring doorbell. but my bits aint doing much on this brick. the bottom right hole took me 20 minutes and i aint even a quarter done. im using a new bosch 1/4 inch masonry bit. drills on hammer mode. and ive tried different speeds and pressure. what am i messing up. any advice on what to do.

I guess your drill is fine for making those holes. Just try and make sure your drill bit isnt damaged use moderate speed high pressure andblow out the dust. Patience is key.

It really takes time for this one. You have to start really slow first and you let the bit bite in before you increase speed. Just be firm when you're at it but don't push too hard okay? If the bit gets hot you just have to let it cool in water between drilling. Not too hot or it's just gonna ruin it.

Well, practice makes you better. Try to be as firm as possible and go slow at first. Two guys above got some reall good advice right there and Im sure there will be more to take note of.

It can be bcs low battery power, try to fully charge it and see how's it going

Your Bosch is good don't worry, sometimes some bricks are just insanely tough especially the older ones. Maybe like use a smaller pilot bit like 1/8 to cut into hard brick before you step up into 1/4. Drill the mortar joints and not the brick.

As a last resort, try adhesive mounting or using Tapcon screws with pre-drilled pilot holes.

try starting with a smaller pilot hole and keep the speed low. Just let the bit cool often since heat dulls it quickly. If your goal is to reduce effort without compromising the strength of the installation. The best way is aiming for the mortar joint instead of solid brick.
