My take on eco-friendly building materials?... Builders are starting to seriously use low-carbon blocks and lime-based mortars now. A shift that's about following the trend for the environment. It is also good news coz we're now using recycled stuff in the aggregates too. I like that these new materials can sometimes be easier on your lungs when you are working with them. But you need to know that these greener options can cost more money than the old stuff. Which is the current downside is mainly due to supply and demand, and the production cost is too expensive. But if you have projects, you really need to check the quality because how well they perform changes a lot. Have you tried using these newer materials yet? What simple tricks have you found to keep the costs down when sourcing them?

the best solution I found to keep costs under control iis to buy from suppliers who move a lot of volume because they tend to have steadier pricing and better stock. It is an advantage to know a supplier in your area.

I’ve seen people in other forums say they like to mix regular and ecofriendly materials in non critical areas to save money while still getting the benefits. Does anyone here do that?
