Which one is the best for opening a masonry business

My father owns a few construction businesses, and I want to follow in his path. I'm thinking about opening a masonry business. To do this, I heard I have to join the union for better pay and benefits or get hired as an apprentice for some of the non union mason contractors. I don't mind either of them, I think I can do it. But I'm curious, which one is the best way for masonry business?

To be honest, it's better to start with a non-union apprenticeship first because this will help you get more flexibility and learn more along the way? I suppose either is fine like you're implying but there's a difference when the first steps of your career involve flexibility. You can really learn from there and pick your vibe.

yh, I want to join as an apprentice bcs of its easier entry & flexibility, but the union is also attractive for its benefits haha
