Thinking about a career in masonry

I am interested in becoming a mason but I do not have any construction experience yet. When I look at new high rises it seems like they use pre-fabricated brick panels instead of laying them one by one. I want to know if big commercial jobs still use traditional methods or if that way of working is fading away. But I also wonder if residential housing still relies on classic bricklaying. I am trying to decide if this trade is still a smart career choice or if I should pick a different path. It would be helpful to hear from people in the industry about where the work is going.

The first thing you need to consider is, are you ready for this tough job? Keep in mind that masonry is not just brick because it also involves block, stone and repair work that still require a lot of hands on skill.
